Prof Patrick Tan
Prof Patrick Tan

Prof Patrick Tan graduated MBBS from the Royal London Hospital (London University), as an anaesthesiologist from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and as a fellow in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre and as intensivist.
He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia, a medical advisor to the Medical Protection Society, member of the World Health Organization World Alliance for Patient Safety, founder member of the Acute Kidney Injury Network, past president of the College of Anaesthesiologists. He served as Secretary, Vice-President and President of the Asia Pacific Association of Critical Care Medicine.
His areas of expertise are: Intensive Care Medicine (Ventilation, Infectious Dis-eases, Outcomes), Anesthesiology (Pediatric-, Transplantation- and Hepadobiliary Anesthesia), Medical Ethics and Medical Informatics.


Prof Ross Freebairn
Prof Ross Freebairn

Prof Ross Freebairn is a Consultant in Intensive Care at Hawke’s Bay Hospital, Hastings NZ. As well he is the Immediate Past President & Censor of the College of Intensive Care Medicine, Medical Director, NZ Air Ambulance Service, Adjunct Associate Professor, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Vice President APACCM, President elect of the council of the Asia Pacific association for Critical Care.
He is a founding member of the BASIC steering group and is heavily involved in running intensive care courses in New Zealand, Australia, Africa, Asia, Middle East and Europe.
His interests and research are on lung protective strategies and the role of lung recruitment and PEEP in the patient with ARDS. As well his other interest in spontaneous ventilation issues during mechanical ventilation.


Prof Jordi Mancebo
Prof Jordi Mancebo

Prof Jordi Mancebo M.D. is former Director and Senior Consultant, Intensive Care Department at University Hospital de Sant Pau, Barcelona, Spain and he currently is Professor of Medicine at Université de Montréal, clinical researcher at CR-CHUM and physician at the Division of Critical Care and Department of Medicine of the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal, Montréal (QC), Canada. He has conducted clinical and physiological research in the field of mechanical ventilation and acute respiratory failure, coauthoring over 160 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
He has served as editorial board member in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (2001-2005) and has been associate editor (2003-2007) and deputy editor (2007-2013) for Intensive Care Medicine. Since January 2015, he is an associate editor for the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the SEMICYUC (Spanish critical care society), SRLF (French critical care society), ESICM (European Society of Intensive Care Medicine), and the ATS (American Thoracic Society).


Dr Shirish Prayag
Dr Shirish Prayag

Dr Shirish Prayag completed his graduation and post-graduation in Internal Medicine from Pune, India. He was trained in Intensive Care Medicine at Charing Cross Hospital, London under Prof. Ken Hillman in 1981-2
Along with colleagues, Dr Prayag established the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine [ISCCM] in 1993. He is a Fellow of American College of Critical Care medicine. He is running the longest running workshop in mechanical ventilation in India since 1998.
He has been a past president of ISCCM, a past editor of IJCCM, a past member of the executive council of the World Federation of Critical Care Medicine.
He has been regarded as a pioneer in education, and training of critical care in India and Asia.


Dr Kuban Naidoo
Dr Kuban Naidoo

Kuban Naidoo is a paediatric intensivist, currently working at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto, Johannesburg.
He completed his MBBCh and MMed(Paed) at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He obtained the Diploma in Child Health, Fellowship in Paediatrics and Certificate in Critical Care(Paediatrics) from the College of Medicine of South Africa.
In addition to clinical work, Kuban is also the South African Course Director for the Beyond BASIC Mechanical Ventilation and Beyond BASIC Nephrology advanced ICU courses while continuing to instruct on the BASIC ICU course as well as the Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS).
He is the current chairperson of the Egoli (Johannesburg) branch of the Critical Care Society of Southern Africa (CCSSA).


A/Prof Dr Andreas Schibler
A/Prof Dr Andreas Schibler

Prof Schibler is the Director of Research in Paediatric Critical Care at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.
He holds a fulltime clinical appointment as a senior staff specialist at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, QLD.
Prof Schibler’s research in pediatric lung function resulted in the introduction of novel standard methods in lung function laboratory’s worldwide.
He has been the key and leader researcher in the development of high flow methods and his research has been implemented worldwide as the standard use of high flow in bronchiolitis and children.
He is one of the internationally recognized key leaders in the field of high flow and electrical impedance tomography and monitoring of ventilation in pediatrics’. Prof Schibler has delivered over 100 lectures at both, national and international conferences. In his research role, Prof. Schibler has participated and collaborated with many researchers nationally and internationally.


Dr Senthilkumar Rajagopal
Dr Senthilkumar Rajagopal

Dr Senthilkumar Rajagopal is practicing critical care for the past 15 years and has special interest in haemodynamics and mechanical ventilation. He has vast experience in managing ARDS and difficult weaning patients, where he uses advanced modes of ventilation with notable positive outcome.
